Espiritu Santo Island - Isla Espíritu Santo, Mexico

Isla Espíritu Santo (Espiritu Santo Island) is a large (102 km2) island surrounded by a set of smaller islets known as Isla Partida, Los Islotes, La Ballena, El Gallo and La Gallina. It lies some 20 km east of La Paz in Baja California Sur, Mexico. Because of its proximity to La Paz Bay, the island has been intensely used in the past and is still the most heavily visited island in the Sea of Cortés. It is littered with evidence of pre-Hispanic occupancy by the Pericú people. In the 19th century Don Gastón Vivés established the first pearl oyster farm in the world here.
The island is uninhabited, but has a luxury eco camp in one of the bays from May to October. There is no internet or phone connection (a paradise!). Around the Espiritu Santo Island you can kayak, snorkel, catch fish, swim with sea lions, watch the colonies of dolphins swim by, enjoy romantic starry nights and more...
